BUYING GUIDE

How to Choose a Semi-Automatic Labeling Machine

Start with the container and label requirements, then compare operating method, adjustment range and expected output.

01

Identify the Container Shape

• Beyond round/flat: Consider material (Glass, PET, Metal) and geometry.
• Special shapes: Tapered bottles, flasks with handles, or tubes require custom fixtures or molds for stable positioning.
02

Confirm Label Position

• Label type: Standard clear/transparent labels require specific ultrasonic sensors to detect edges properly.
• Placement: Confirm if you need full wrap-around, front/back, or top surface labeling before ordering.
03

Match Output and Workflow

• Speed: Delivers 15–40 pcs/min, depending on operator speed.
• Drive type: All-electric offers plug-and-play desktop convenience; pneumatic provides stronger pressing force for tight bonding.
04

Check Optional Functions

• Coding: Add a ribbon coder or inkjet printer for date/batch codes.
• Orientation: Choose custom orientation blocks for alignment based on bottle seams or glass marks.

Common Applications

Our semi-automatic labeling equipment is engineered for small-batch production, startup packaging lines, and high-mix, low-volume (HMLV) environments. It delivers high precision across various industries, including cosmetics (lotion bottles, lip balm tubes), food & beverage (wine bottles, sauce jars, honey pots), pharmaceuticals (vials, eye-drop bottles), and chemical packaging (spray bottles, jerry cans).

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between manual and semi-automatic labeling?
Manual labeling relies entirely on human alignment, leading to low speed and high error rates (bubbles, wrinkles, misalignments). Semi-automatic labeling standardizes the process using mechanical rollers and sensors. The operator only loads and unloads the container, while the machine applies the label with high accuracy (\(∓0.5mm to ∓1mm) and consistency.
Can one machine label different container sizes?
Yes, within its physical adjustment range. Most of our semi-automatic models feature toolless adjustment knobs. Switching from a small vial to a large jar typically takes only 3 to 5 minutes of adjusting the guide rails and roller spacing, making it perfect for facilities running multiple products.
Can a semi-automatic labeling machine print a date or batch code?
Some configurations can be paired with a coding device, while others cannot. Confirm coding requirements, print position and compatibility with the selected model before purchasing.
What should I send to get a machine recommendation?
Provide container photos and dimensions, label size and material, the required label position, target output and whether coding is needed. A sample label or short application video can also help with model selection.
